What time does downtown Pensacola's newest food close? That depends on which edge of downtown you're on. Great Harvest Bread Co. opens at 7 a.m. on DeVilliers Street and locks up at 5 p.m. Over on East Garden Street, Insomnia Cookies stays open until 3 a.m. on Thursday and Friday nights.
Those two addresses frame this year's openings. The 2026 additions came in two groups. In Belmont-DeVilliers, the new places work the daylight hours and close by 8 p.m. On a short stretch of East Garden, the new places run past midnight. The Palafox core picked up the dinner hours in between, mostly through relaunches. Sorting the year by closing time is the quickest way to see what changed.
Belmont-DeVilliers took the daylight hours
The daytime group sits in and around Savoy Marketplace, a set of storefronts beneath the Savoy Place apartments. Quint and Rishy Studer opened its businesses one at a time over the summer, then held a grand opening for the whole complex on Friday, Aug. 21, with a Pensacola Chamber ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. The Marketplace was planned as a one-stop shop for farm-fresh produce, wine, sandwiches, pastries, ice cream, yoga classes and plants.
Great Harvest Bread Co. opened first, on May 22, at 321 N. DeVilliers St. in DeVilliers Square. It is Pensacola's first Great Harvest, and it mills its wheat in-house every day. The daily breads include Rustic Sourdough, Farmhouse White, Honey Whole Wheat and the seed-heavy Dakota. Opening-day sandwiches cost $11 to $12, including a Baja Chipotle Turkey and a Spicy Apple Bacon Grilled Cheese. Hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Owner Rishy Studer told the Pensacola News Journal, "I would love to see this become a popular area for this section of town."
Sage In Bloom is the latest-closing spot in the group, and it still shuts at 8 p.m. Chef Ian Whitcomb and his wife Stacy started it as a pop-up from their company, Pensacola Catering. The pop-up dinners were usually four courses for $40, often on Mondays so restaurant workers on their night off could come. The permanent location serves lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with multi-course tasting menus at the bar. The menu changes with the seasons, but a few dishes are planned to stay, including a Texas Caesar with cornbread croutons and cotija, and Whitcomb's house-made mole. Stacy handles dessert, including a tableside flaming Alaska and a bay leaf crème brûlée. PNJ photographers caught the kitchen in full service on July 9.
"We want this to feel like a supper club." — Chef Ian Whitcomb, to the Pensacola News Journal
Sweet Blessing Café joined in August. Owners Gus Rodriguez and Nicole Burford built the menu around build-your-own bowls. The chicken, pork and beef are slow-roasted overnight with Puerto Rican herbs, and there are 10 house-made sauces, from a sofrito cream to a mango vinaigrette made with Honduran mango pulp. The café also sells baked goods and breakfast and lunch plates. Bliss Yoga and Mindfulness Studio fills out the complex. Aliff Acres Farm, the Sugar Bird's Sweet Confections dessert cart and Flowers By Cindy all debuted at the Aug. 21 opening.
None of the Belmont-DeVilliers openings with posted hours stays open past 8 p.m.
East Garden Street took the hours after dark
The late-night group is two storefronts, at 90 and 96 E. Garden St. Insomnia Cookies held its grand opening at 90 E. Garden St. on April 11. Its posted hours run until 1 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. The Downtown Pensacola directory listing confirms the 3 a.m. close.
Lennys Grill & Subs opened at 96 E. Garden St. with a July 30 grand opening. It is the brand's first Pensacola location in more than a decade. Co-owners Will Morin and Kent Simmons added something no other Lennys has: a walk-up window built for late-night orders, announced for Thursday through Saturday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The dining room keeps regular hours of 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. PNJ covered the grand opening that day.
The owners explained why they chose the location. Simmons said the historic district "has lacked a dedicated sandwich shop where people can grab a quick lunch, dinner, or late-night meal." Morin described downtown as having "two major audiences – people who work here during the day and people who come downtown to enjoy the nightlife." They pointed out that the downtown core was mostly sit-down restaurants.
Here are the posted hours side by side. On Thursday through Saturday, the two groups overlap only from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., when Great Harvest closes.

Palafox kept the dinner hours, mostly through relaunches
The center of downtown added fewer brand-new names this year. Its existing restaurants did more of the changing.
SalTerra Coastal Taqueria is the main new Palafox opening. It started public dinner service on May 14 after friends-and-family tastings in April. Co-owners Nathan and Lauren Holler and Nathan "Franky" and Melisa Torres run it, and Alex Caylor is executive chef. The menu draws on coastal Mexican and Central American cooking.
A block off Palafox, Bar, Justa opened quietly on South Baylen Street at the end of April. Owner Ian Kaple runs it as a laid-back neighborhood bar with no kitchen of its own. The So Yummy! food truck has a permanent spot outside serving street food.
Two established restaurants relaunched. 86 Forks Bar + Table at 11b Palafox Place refreshed its menu and design in April with executive chef Mia Harman in the kitchen. Bodacious Market & Café at 407 S. Palafox St. remodeled its café while staying open, launched a new breakfast and lunch menu on June 15, and held a grand reopening on July 31. Bodacious and Great Harvest share an owner. Rishy Studer reworked a daytime café on Palafox the same year she opened a daytime bakery in Belmont-DeVilliers, and both serve breakfast and lunch, with chef Ryan Young in the Bodacious kitchen.
What left, and what's coming next
Two departures changed the edges of the map. Jordan Valley closed its Mediterranean restaurant at 201 S. Jefferson St. around the end of June so owner Tamer Ghboun could focus on the 1400 Barrancas Ave. location. On the bay, Andy D's on Pensacola Bay at 905 E. Gregory St. put up a "Temporarily closed until further notice" sign on May 18. A private event venue called The Gregory Waterfront Events & Gatherings has been proposed for that address and was taking booking inquiries while improvements were underway.
The two announced projects without opening dates are both bars, so they would add to downtown's evening hours:
- Eno's Basement Bar at 710 N. Palafox St., Suite B, from Epitaph & Co., the group behind The Kennedy Lounge and Old Hickory Whiskey Bar. The September announcement gave no opening date.
- Sneaky Tiki, an island-style tiki bar that PNJ reported in August is aiming for a downtown location next year. No downtown address has been published.
Savoy Place's directory lists Lamonte Gelato as a tenant, but Lamonte's own website still gives its shop address as Sacred Heart Hospital on 12th Avenue, so check before you go.
One Friday using only this year's openings
Based on the posted hours, here's how a single Friday could go using only 2026 openings:
- 7 a.m. Great Harvest opens on DeVilliers Street, with daily breads and a full coffee menu.
- Lunch at Sweet Blessing Café or Sage In Bloom in Savoy Marketplace, or at the reworked Bodacious on Palafox.
- Before 8 p.m. Sage In Bloom's last seating window, if you want the bar tasting menu.
- Evening SalTerra's dinner service on Palafox, or Bar, Justa with the So Yummy! truck outside.
- 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. the Lennys walk-up window on East Garden, on its announced Thursday-through-Saturday schedule.
- Until 3 a.m. Insomnia Cookies, on the same street at 90 E. Garden St.
Restaurant hours change, especially in a restaurant's first year, so check the current schedule before a late-night stop.
